Near Fine: firmly bound in clean and bright blue boards; gently pushed and lightly sunned to the very tips of the spine; browned to the edge of the page block; internally crisp and clean and free of marks and inscriptions (crease across the bottom corner of the ffep). The clipped dustwrapper is Near Fine+: very crisp and attractive, with a vivid red exhibiting NO FADING at all – scarce, thus - and a very clean rear panel; a touch of wear at the spine tips, with a very short (7mm) closed tear by the head of the front gutter; presents beautifully in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover - a very handsome example of the scarce first of Le Carre’s breakthrough.
