An excellent, very attractive copy!!***Chamisso, a very talented and skilled scientist, accompanied Otto von Kotzebue on his circumnavigation on the ship 'Rurik'. He was an untiring observer and collector of material. As such, he gathered a wealth of information on many fields of natural science like botany, zoology, meteorology, cartography and ethnography. One of his most famous works was his book on the Hawaiian language, which includes the very first grammar of the islands. After his return, he planned the publication of a comprehensive dictionary of the Hawaiian language, the first part of which was his 'Ueber die Hawaiische Sprache'.
