1891 - [EHON] TANAKA JIHEI, publisher & printer. MIYAKO NO NISHIKI. Kyo^to, Meiji 24 [1891]. Yellow patterned paper over boards, folding orihon album. 24.2 x 16.6 cm. 26 double page images after paintings by such Kyo^to school stalwarts as Mori Kansai, Ko^no Bairei, Imao Keinen, Takeuchi Seiho^, Kikuchi Ho^bun, Tomioka Tessai, etc., etc. A wonderful tour of the mid-Meiji Bunjin work transitioning into Nihonga. The printed paper title is after calligraphy by Tessai. A throroughly satisfying example of the genre in a nicely printed example in very good condition with a just a bit of soiling to the covers. By no means a common book, not in Mitchell.
