After the lecture, 1930
A.M.G. Paris 1930 - Original, 1st. b&w vintage gravure print by the noted Hungarian photographer André Kertesz, beautifully printed in deep high quality héliogravure. Size of image : 23.3 x 17.2 cm, mounted on special acid free off-white card board 30 x 40 cm, with passe-partout that can easily be removed. The image shows 3 faint, very fine lines, hardly visible - printing error, else in very fine+ condition. Héliogravure is a very sophisticated reproduction process of art photography, rather unique in its kind and known for their soft mat and charcoal like surface (fragile) that gives an almost 3D effect. It is an intaglio (incised carving) printing process - in the 1920's and -30's still half manually and half mechanically conducted and abandoned in the late 60's. Images are printed by making printing plates in copper : 1st. a photo-chemical process that creates the intaglio surface where the photographic image is etched into a copper plate, 2nd. the copper plate is used to print the image onto special etching paper using inks. This can sometimes create some irregularities in the image, but they are mostly hardly visible and not disturbing. This image is nevertheless exceedingly rare. Shipped flat, well protected in solid card board envelope. NB : because of copyright restrictions, only a part of the image is presented. For more info, please contact us. [Attributes: First Edition]
