Ascent of K2. Second Highest Peak in the World.
London: Elek Books, 1955 - Original turquoise cloth, titles to spine gilt. With the dust jacket. An excellent, fresh copy in the rubbed jacket with some chips and closed tears, fraying at the ends of the spine panel, and a crease and partial closed tear affecting the length of the upper panel. First edition, first impression. With a loosely inserted postcard of the team that scaled K2 for the first time, signed by ten of the mountaineers: Ubaldo Rey, Ugo Angelino, Lino Lacedelli, Erich Abram, Gino Solda, Cirillo Floreanini, Sergio Viotto, Mario Fantin, Guido Pagani, and Pino Galloti. The verso has been inscribed by a mountaineer who discusses some of his climbs and the fact that he climbed with Lino Lacedelli, one of the two Italians who reached the summit of K2 on the first successful attempt. K2 is the second highest peak in the world but a far more difficult climb than Everest, becoming known as The Savage Mountain. [Attributes: First Edition]
