[An untitled, apparently self published illustrated book].
[n.p., n.d., but probably Spain, c. : 1920s]. : 8vo (236 í- 169 mm), 35 leaves (including 12 of translucent paper), 12 mounted photographs. Printed text with calligraphic manuscript captions and initials. Original green wrappers, upper cover with gouache design incorporating a silhouette of Diana the huntress. Slightly faded. : An anonymous and enigmatic jazz-age reverie expressed through print, manuscript and photography, presumably otherwise unpublished. The printed text (on translucent paper) consists of short passages in Spanish prose and conjures up a twilight world of cabaret, dance, theatre and sensuality; the original photographs visible beneath each text leaf are of paintings (or drawings) in an archetypal art deco style, rich in decadent symbolism; while the captions and initials are rendered in manuscript (sometimes with colour). Titles of the individual sections include ?Momento Español?, ?Mariposa de noche? and ?Fin de Fiesta?. The cover is an original ink and gouache design in the same style, probably by the same artist as that of the photographed images.
