Les paris sont ouverts
Paris: José Corti (1934). 32pp - Paris: José Corti (1934). 32pp. Claude Cahun (1894-1854) "one of the most curious spirits of our time" (André Breton) was a provocative artist, poet and activist who fundamentally changed modern notions of sexuality and gender. In 1932 she joined the Association des Écrivains et Artistes Révolutionnaires, where she met Breton and René Crevel and began associating with the surrealist group, and later participated in a number of surrealist exhibitions. In 1934, she published this powerful defense of the political potential of poetry ("Bets are On") and in 1935 took part in the founding of the left-wing group Contre Attaque. Very good in original wrappers, light spotting to covers and very light creasing. Uncommon. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
