Containing:Pan: Erste Haeflte des Zweiten Jahrgangs Erstes Und Zweites Heft Mai Bis Oktober 1896Pan: Erste Haeflte des Dritten Jahrgangs Erstes Und Zweites Heft Mai Bis Oktober 1897Illustrated throughout with forty-five tissue-guarded plates, many of which are coloured. Pan played an important role in the development of Art Nouveau in Germany. The magazine printed a number of illustrations by both well-known and unknown young artists. Among the best-known artists who contributed to the periodical were Franz von Stuck, Flix Vallotton, and Thomas Theodor Heine. Pan also printed stories and poems, in the emerging Symbolist and Naturalist movements; authors published included Otto Julius Bierbaum, Max Dauthendey, Richard Dehmel and Arno Holz. Two volumes of five only (missing 1895, 1898, and 1899-1900). Condition: In half-morocco bindings with decorative gilt boards. Externally, a trifle rubbed, with some slight wear to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Pages are bright, though with foxing throughout. Overall: GOOD. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
