Putnam. London. 1937 - FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.7 x 5.9 inches). A very good, bright copy in the publishers red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. In the second issue of the dustwrapper with an alternative design to the front panel and spine, by Robin Darwin, and with reviews for the book in the inside front flap, which is priced 5s. This later wrapper has adverts for 3 other Putnam books on the rear panel and probably dates from 1940. The true first edition of the book which has been enhanced by the addition of a slightly later dustwrapper, presumably at an early stage as it has kept the book clean underneath. --- Although a Dane herself, Blixen wrote the book in English and then translated it into Danish. It was published the following year in America under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
