London: Bernard Quaritch, (1926 - second edition).Large octavo,296 pp.,20 coloured (including 19 handcoloured) lithographs. Publisher's handsome green cloth, top edge gilt, an excellent clean copy. Much of the text, and eleven of the plates, are devoted to Australian parrots. David Seth-Smith was curator of birds at London zoo for over 30 years and a popular radio broadcaster in Britain. He had strong links with many well-known Australian ornithologists, such as A. J. Campbell, and visited Australia in 1908. The revised second edition has a slightly different title page than the first edition, a more substantial introduction and appendix. The plates are the same in both editions.
