Notes: This work was originally projected by John White, author of "Rural architecture" (1845), who prepared the greater number of the illustrations before his death. Newlands provided the text and a lesser number of illustrations. First published in 1860. Preface dated 1860. Added engraved title page. Good copy bound in contemporary gilt-blocked 1/2 leather over cloth-covered boards. Spine bands and panel edges somewhat worn and rubbed. Corners bumped. Some surface wear to cloth as with use and age. Remains quite well-preserved overall. Further scans, images etc. and additional bibliographical material available on request.
