This is the very scarce 1st edition, large format hardback, large quarto. Faber and Faber, London, 1936. Foreward by Laurence Binyon. xxviii + 160pp text + 160 plates with page for annotation for each one. Essential for Chinese art book collectors - this exhibition was the most most important exhibition of Chinese Art ever held in the UK. Cover only in fair condition, bumped and worn, small pieces missing to top and tail of spine (see photographs). The interior of the book is very good - endpaper joints intact and clean, text pages and plates all nice and clean - just some minor age discoloration. Some pages uncut. Top edge gilt. Ex-library - gilded number and evidence tape to lower spine. Library slip to first pastedown, and embossed (not printed) stamps to plates and some text pages in top corner.
