The westward explorations of Lewis and Clark remain a source of fascination, with the courage and daring it took to explore then-unknown territory. This edition of Lewis and Clark's Expedition diaries includes a multitude of illustrations, drawings, maps, and facsimiles in both colour and sepia-tone throughout two volumes. The introduction was written by John Bakeless, who has written over a dozen books, including "Lewis and Clark, Partners in Discovery", which is one of the first and foremost scholarly works on Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. This edition also includes sixteen full-page plates in four, five, and six colours: seven plates in the first volume, nine in the second. Thirteen of the plates are from paintings by Carl Bodmer and three paintings by George Bird King (N.
