A good sound copy of a scarce work. Translated from the French, Types et caractères russes, 1847. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Little is known of the author. Born in 1816, he lived in western Europe from the 1840s, publishing a number of works in the 1840s and 50s on Russia and the Russians, apparently writing in French. He was affiliated with the Russia Free Press, with much of his work critical of the Russian government, and rich with examples of abuses of power. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
