Éditions de L'Herne, Paris 1974 - Large folio (78 x 53 cm; 26.5 x 20.75"). Loose bifolia and sheets laid into printed handmade paper wrappers. Enclosed in a canvas- covered clamshell box with pictorial vignette. Fine. First edition in this format, illustrated with nine full-page original etchings by Alexander Calder, each signed in pencil in the margin by him. With parallel English text and a French translation by D. Jon Grossman. In addition to 175 numbered copies, this is one of an unspecified number of copies marked as 'H.C.' Monod suggests there were twenty copies hors commerce, but indicates they were numbered in Roman. The etchings were printed by l'Atelier Arte, and in this copy are on Auvergne. MONOD 3338.
