Half-titles present in vols 2 & 3. ¦ A history of the exploration of all of Asia by Westerners, beginning with Alexander, together with a first-hand account of the present (1820) conditions. Murray (1779-1846) was a prominent geographer and historian, his most famous work (his magnum opus - DNB) being the Encyclopedia of Geography (1834). Ink signature of "Chas. P. Motsch / Kandahar / New Years Day / 1951Ó on the front paste-downs. Motsch was stationed in Afghanistan after World War II and later taught English in Kabul and Kandahar.
