A BRIEF RECORD OF EVENTS IN EXETER, N. H. DURING THE YEAR 1861, TOGETHER WITH THE NAMES OF THE SOLDIERS OF THIS TOWN IN THE WAR.
Samuel Hall, Exeter 1862 - 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 20pp. This is a rare stitch bound soft cover pamphlet written by the Reverend Elias Nason of the First Church of Exeter, NH. The reverend Nason was a well educated and traveled man who had spent some time in the south where he developed his anti-slavery views, he was also tasked with taking weather readings for the Smithsonian Institution. This booklet contains excerpts from his daily journals about the goings on in the historical town of Exeter during the civil war. At the back of the pamphlet is a 3 page alphabetical listing of local men who enlisted in the Union Army. Really a great piece of Americana with loads of historical and genealogical information. Contains a manuscript gift inscription from C. P. H. Nason town clerk of Exeter. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
