New York: E.P. Dutton, Inc, 1984. First edition. Hardcover. SIGNED. 383pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] 1/4 white cloth over black boards. Title stamped in red on backstrip. Illustrated by the author. Very good. The covers are very slightly warped. The edges of the spine and covers are gently bumped and rubbed. The spine is mildly rolled back. There are roughly 4 very small stains on the edges of the text block. The top edge of the text block is also very lightly soiled. In a very good dust jacket, with subtle rubbing and age-toning. There is a crease in the rear inside flap, that measures 2 inches long. Inscribed by the author on the front free endsheet. An anthology containing Abbey's own selections from twelve of the author's books; including a rare excerpt from Jonathan Troy, and a then unpublished excerpt from "The Rites of Spring", that was subsequently issued as the author's fat masterpiece, and the last novel published in his lifetime, The Fool's Progress.
