Quarto, 343, [3], 321, [3], 66, 57, 60 pages; VG; bound in contemporary brown leather boards, rebacked with new paneled spine, with each panel having a double ruled upper and lower border, one panel has a burgundy label with gilt lettering; boards diced in blind, with moderate wear to boards; a large water-stain permeates the volume, impacting the entire top edge of the text block and extending down wards, the most impacted pages are towards the beginning and end of the volume;collation: [1], A-B², C-Z⁴, Aa-Yy⁴, A¹, B-Z², Aa-Zz², Aaa-Zzz², Aaaa-Nnnn², Mmmm³, A-R², A-H⁴, A-C², D², *D², E-Q²;Engraved frontispiece portrait by R. White with Dryden's epigram, frontispiece trimmed and attached to a new endpaper and bound into the correct place; Lll² has a small amount of marginalia; closed tear to middle gutter margin of Ee², fore edge of Gg¹, top edge of Ll⁴; Paradise Lost lacking frontispiece, but with all 12 plates as called for, one per chapter, bound in opposite title page, E⁴, K¹, N¹, R², X¹, Aa⁴, Dd², Gg¹, Ll⁴, Qq², Uu¹. The 12 engraved illustrations are from the 1688 edition.;Consists of seven parts, all bound together as issued: 1) Paradise Lost, printed by Tho.
