32 - London - Benjamin Motte, 1731 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Three volumes of Miscellanies with contributions from three of the most prominent writers of the day. Complete in three volumes. The text was mainly edited by Pope, though Swift edited much of the first volume. With an engraved monogram to each title page. Works present include 'Law is a Bottomless Pit, or the History of John Bull', 'A Famous Prediction of Merlin, the British Wizard' and 'The Art of Sinking in Poetry'. Condition: In calf bindings. Externally, sound with shelfwear and slight loss to leather of spines of two volumes. Slight cracking to one front joint. Internally, generally firmly bound. One preliminary page is missing. Bright with occasional spots, marks and tidemarks. Slight lifting to one front pastedown. Overall: GOOD.
