Most are cloth bound. 8vo, 624pp. . Identically marbled boards, pastedowns and text block edges. BAL 3411 calls this the "First state, intermediate B (A)" with chapter 2 tailpiece of Twain & burning urn (later deleted) on p441 and p443 illustration titled "St Charles" instead of "St Louis Hotel". Tight. Strong hinges. Very clean, even text block top edge free of any touch of dust stain. Spine with 5 raised ridges. Red leather title label & green leather author label, both gilt lettered. Labels & blank panels gilt edge ruled. Blank panel corners with gilt floral design, center geometric. MINOR FLAWS: rubbed spine, extrems with minor wear. Neatly inked name dated 1883, year of publication. Two signatures just barely starting. .
