Die Wohnhausanlage der Gemeinde Wien: Winarskyhof im XX. Bezirk, Stromstrasse, Vorgartenstrasse, Kaiserwasserstrasse, Pasettigasse
16 pp. pamphlet on the Winarskyhof residential complex in the 20th "Bezirk" or "Brigittenau" district in Vienna, constructed between 1924 and 1925, and designed by well-known architects Josef Hoffmann, Peter Behrens, Oskar Strnad, Josef Frank, Oskar Wlach, Schuster, Loos, Grete Lihotzky, and Karl Dirnhuber. Illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs and a map. 4to. Orig. publisher's wrpps. Vienna (Chwala's Druck) n.d. (circa 1926). Rare brochure detailing one of the largest social housing projects in 1920's Communist Vienna. The project, very ambitious for its time, proposed a complex of over 500 modern apartments, each with its own bathroom, and community amenities and facilities such as a kindergarten, library, theater, stores, artist's studios, and public baths. The buildings are still standing today, vestiges of an important time in Vienna's history.
