Devonshire and Cornwall Illustrated
Fisher 1832 - Devonshire and Cornwall illustrated From Original Drawings by Thomas Allom, W. H. Bartlett, &c. With Historical and Topographical Descriptions by J. Britton and E. W. Brayley. Fisher and Fisher 1832. Half-bound in diced calf with gilt detail to spine. Boards stained, worn and with corners of boards exposed. Front hinge split with two cords broken and two exposed but currently holding. Rear hinge holding. Title page to whole volume with pencil notes to top; previous purchaser's paper clipping stuck to top edge and ownership stamp. This is followed by the title page for Devonshire with vignette: generally spotted and stained. Text for Devonshire generally bright with only minor spotting (106pp). Plates for Devonshire vary from light spotting to very heavy. Title page for Cornwall with vignette, lightly marked and spotted. Text a little dust soiled but reasonably bright (48pp). Plates again vary from light to very heavy spotting. Devonshire has 96 plates on 48 pages whilst Cornwall has 44 plates on 22 pages. Both maps are present but (bizarrely) the Devonshire map is bound at the start of the Cornwall plates and the Cornwall map follows close behind, after 3 pages of Cornwall plates. Both maps are a little spotted. Two Cornwall plates in amongst the Devonshire plates and vice-versa. A worn but complete work, with weak front hinge. More details available on request. Due to size and weight, extra postage cost will be required for delivery outside the U.K. (0616Ua1) [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
