Quartos, third edition (first was 1694), pp. [iv (dedication)], xxxii, 16, 695. 6, 58; 250 plates; 239 plates, full brown calf boards with gilt lettering and floral decoration to spines wiht 6 compartments, edges tinted red, frequent margin notes and pencil marks in V.1, former owners' names on front pastedown of V.1 and title pages. Text in Latin. Brunet 903 lists 3 French editions but ignores this Latin version; says the third is the edition preferred by botanists, perhaps because of its expanded text and additional plates. Also see Claus Nissen's botanical bibliography, p 1997. Condition of these books: Covers heavily worn, chipped and rubbed, scattered internal foxing and staining, plates very good and clean. Overall good and sound. Size: Quarto. 3-volume set (complete). Text is in Latin. Text contains marks and notes scattered throughout, in ink. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact.
