The Shifting of the Fire
London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1892. The elusive FIRST EDITION, English issue of Ford's first novel. Good+ condition. Better than it sounds. SEE PHOTOS. The spine and covers are reasonably bright -- NOT browned, sunned, or tanned. Hardcover. Bound in the publisher's tan figured cloth with the original decorated endpapers. All edges uncut. As called for by Harvey, the backstrip and front cover read 'Ford H. Hueffer' while the title page reads H. Ford Hueffer. Minor cover soil and light fraying at spine ends. Light scattered foxing to a few early leaves. Rear free endpaper has been torn out taking a portion of the rear pastedown endpaper with it. Front inner hinge cracked, but holding. Illegible signature in pencil at the top of the title page. [While this name could easily be erased, maybe a Ford scholar should attempt to identify first]. Harvey A3a. . First Edition, English issue. Hardcover. Good+ condition. 8vo. (vi), 322pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.
