Winner Takes Nothing
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1933. First Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Printing (with both the Scribner's seal and 'A' on the copyright back), one of only 20,300 copies. Small 8vo; [8], 244pp, with both blanks front and back. Publisher's black cloth, with gold foil title blocks lettered and ruled in black on the upper board and spine and a beautiful rose-pink top stain; in a bright, typographic, first-issue dust jacket priced at $2.00. An astonishingly Fine copy, the book square, tight and unread; in a Fine and vibrant jacket that has benefited from minimal, highly skilled restoration to several nicks, creases and closed tears, but involving none of the lettering or design. Hemingway's fourth collection of stories, including 'A Clean, Well-Lighted Place' and 'Fathers and Sons.' Hanneman A13a. Truly a collector's copy. Note: With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, with dust jackets carefully preserved in archival, removable polypropylene sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed.
