WHOLE ART OF BOOKBINDING, CONTAINING VALUABLE RECIPES FOR SPINKLING, MAKBLING [sic], COLOURING, &C
Oswestry: Printed and sold for the author by N. Minshall, 1811. original paper covered boards. Bookbinding. 12mo. original paper covered boards. xi, 60 pages. S-K 7258. Pollard no.89, the first English book devoted entirely to bookbinding. "It is very much a working bookbinder's notebook put in order for publication and owes little to the encyclopeaedias." Pollard lists three possible authors but positive proof establishing authorship has never been found. Pollard states that the real strength of this title lies in the detailed descriptions of preparing colors for sprinkling book edges and processes of sprinkling and marbling covers. Chipping with some loss to head and tale of spine, text uncut. Unopened and in its original state, as issued, which is much more rare.
