First edition. A colorful narrative of Mathison?s journey from Portugal to South America; he set sail to Rio de Janeiro in 1821, where he stayed for a while before making his way to the Pacific coast, namely Chile, Peru and the Sandwich Islands. Handsomely illustrated with four plates (representing costumes), all colored and a folding map. Borba also stresses the value of Mathison?s notes on the progress of the industry of the country. Borba de Moraes, 536. Sabin, 46858.
