John C. Nimmo, London 1889 - Two volumes within this book. Firstly, The Complete Angler, 445pp + xv containing six original etchings, two tissue guarded portraits and 74 wood engravings. Secondly, The Practical Fly-Fisher by John Jackson, 16pp with 10 plates, coloured by hand, representing 120 flies, natural and artificial. Green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt illust of a fish on the face and two similar on spine. Gilt lettering on spine incl publication date. Black coloured end pages and top edge gilt. Title pages printed in red and black. Gift inscription dated 1889 on 1st Title page. Another previous owner's sig on ffep (Mr Butler of the ancient Wiltshire village of Lacock, Wiltshire). Some dirt marks to front cover, general edge wear, incl spine joints and corners; rubbing to top and tail of spine. Rough cut fore edge incl tiny loss from corner of pp147/8 and edge of 305/6.
