The Edinburgh Review,
nbsp;1877 -Edinburgh -Adam and Charles Black, 1866 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. A well preserved collection of Edinburgh's oldest literary journal, considering their age. The Review was released quarterly, since 1802. This critical journal proved very influential across the Nineteenth Century in literary and political issues. This journal ceased publication after 1929. Features numerous colourful and intriguing fold out advertisements. Some advertisements are in separate booklets of different formats which have been attached amongst the text. The subjects range from the correspondence of Marie Antoinette, an address on the cattle plague, an appeal from the Royal National Life-boat institute, to discussion on Darwin's The Descent of Man. There are also a vast number of advertisements which reflect the time period from which they belong and advertise literature that includes subject such as Slave Catching in the Indian Ocean. Condition: 32 volumes from January 1866 to April 1877 (not continuous). Externally, bound in original blue paper-wraps. There is some occasional loss to the spine on a handful of volumes. There are small closed tears, some minorloss and some chipping. There are a small number of failed front hinges. One Volume is disbound with only the front board reminding. One volume is predominantly attached by the cords only as the binding has mostly failed. There are also a number of copperplate inscriptions to the front boards. Some volumes have slight age toning, but generally are in good condition considering their age. Internally, generally firmly bound bright and clear. There are some copperplate inscriptions and one volume has annotations on a number of pages. There are a number of volumes that haveunclipped sections. There is occasional loss to some pages but not to a degree in which it would affect understanding of the text. Overall: GOOD.
