NP: No Publisher Given, 1787. Hardcover. Good. Probably published in Paris, 1787. 8vo, original dark brown calf with red spine label (L'an 2440), 3 volumes bound in one, with engraved frontispieces for each volume, 251-240-203 pp with tables. Good copy with some rubbing to corners, joints and spine, joints weak, showing splitting at the tops of bottoms, contents VG and clean. Utopian novel first published in 1770 anonymously, and originally attributed to Voltaire but later established as Mercier. In the novel, a young man has an argument with his friends about political philosophy, falls asleep, wakes up in Paris, AD 2440.
