Gasp. Antonii Thesauri [...] Quaestionum forensium libri quatuor. Quarum singularum quaestionum resolutiones confirmantur [...] Pedemontani & Niceni Senatus decisionibus. Cum duplici indice, [...] Quibus adjicitur eiusdem auctoris De augmento monetae tractatus vtilissimus.
sumptibus Ioannis Antonii & Samuelis De Tournes, 1672. Folio, 350x210 mm, original vellum binding, with raised bands at spine, handwritten title at spine and at bottom edge; pp. [24], 640, [40], 46, [2 b.]. At half-title: Gasp. Antonii Thesauri ... Quaestiones forenses. Red and black types at title-page, with printer's woodcut device. Xyl. initials (at the dedicatory page there is a large and beautiful historiated head-letter). Fine xyl. head- and final-pieces. Text in Latin, printed in two columns. POSTHUMOUS EDITION OF THIS COLLECTION OF COURT DECISIONS OF THE SENATE OF PIEDMONT AND NICE, ON MATTERS OF INTEREST AND USURY, BY THE ITALIAN JURIST GASPARE ANTONIO TESAURO. BOUND TOGETHER WITH A TREATISE OF NUMISMATICS ON THE INCREASE AND VARIATION OF THE COINS BY THE SAME AUTHOR. In the end, after the index, the work includes also an interesting treatise on the increase and variation of the coins, with its own half titl-page: Tractatus de monetarum augmento ac variatione. Authore Gaspare Antonio Thesauro [...]. Provenance: Handwritten ownership inscription at first free leaf recto (not completely readable: ex libris Josephi Dom. Morra Pancalierensis ....). Long handwritten ownership inscription at half title-page (1755 die 24 Marzij. Memoria si come li Fratelli Morra figlioli del Gio. Battista Morra ... Gioseppe Dom. Morra ...). Another very long hand-written inscription at last free-leaf verso, with the Morra's family tree. This family (Morra, or Demorra), native from Pancalieri (Turin), distinguished himself from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, and can be considered the true feudal lord of the area. Ref.: IT\ICCU\UBOE\003142 (7 copies). OCLC, 246488166 and 315454772. Cond.: Traces of use to the binding (light wear at corners, a tear at back board, front hinge a bit cracked). Presence of some browning and foxing and marginal water-stains at bottom edge of many leaves. A good copy.
