The Late George Apley : A Novel in the Form of a Memoir
Little, Brown & Co, 1937. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good+. 354pp, including some unopened pages (uncut at fore edges). First Printing with "Lovely Pearl" in first line of page 19 (Ahearn). Many pages have brown streaking apparently common to this title, a result of a printing press error, though legibility of text is unaffected. Blue cloth covers have gilt lettering and border on front, and gilt lettering on spine. Top text block edge red stained as published. DJ is complete with original $2.50 price in red on front flap fold. DJ is in mylar. Bottom front DJ edge has a 3/4-inch closed tear, with a diagonal crease from top of tear to bottom DJ edge and two tiny tears. Bottom front DJ spine edge has a small closed tear. DJ edges are lightly rubbed, and DJ has a tiny chafed spot below title on spine, and similar below publisher on spine. Pulitzer Prize winner for 1938. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Selling online since 1999.
