New York: Alfred A. Knopf,, 1950 Singer, Isaac Bashevis. THE FAMILY MOSKAT. Transladed by A.H. Gross. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1950. First Edition. 8vo. 611, [3] pp. Quarter crimson & black cloth stamped gilt and black to the spine. A fine copy in a near fine bright first issue dustwrapper showing one narrow chip at the spine crown & light wear at the heel - a very nice example. Acknowledgements with dedication to Singer's late brother I. J. Singer - 4pp. of family trees are featured in the text. The first of Singer's books to be translated into English, originally serialized in Yiddish in the 'Jewish Daily Forward'. Recently, the epic story of 'The Family Moskat' has received belated & deserved rave reviews: 'A masterpiece, a triumph of realism', wrote Frederick Raphael in the Sunday Times. An extremely good copy.. 1st Edition.
