Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin and Company, 1906 - 6 volumes, quarto (267 x 182 mm). Contemporary green half morocco, marbled green paper sides, gilt titles and decoration to spines in compartments, top edges gilt, others untrimmed, marbled green endpapers, green silk page markers. Spines and cover edges faded to brown, minor rubbing to extremities, most notably on volume V, an excellent set. Frontispieces in two states by Corot, Senno and Rossetti, 36 further plates by Flaxman, all on japon, with captioned tissue guards. Large paper edition, number 218 of 650 copies. Both Longfellow's translation and Flaxman's illustrations were first published in 1867, published here with frontispieces from Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, Pietro Senno and Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
