- Plate : 'Tire du Cabinet de Mr. Le Brun.' (From the cabinet of Mr. Le Brun). Engraving after the original painting by Melchior d'Hondecoeter. Landscape with various bird species and a fox. Copperplate engraving/etching on a verge type of hand-laid paper with hand colouring. Description: This attractive original print was published in Paris ca. 1790.Artists and Engravers: This plate engraved by Zentner after Melchior Hondekoeter. Melchior d'Hondecoeter (c. 1636 – 3 April 1695), Dutch animalier painter, was born in Utrecht and died in Amsterdam. After the start of his career, he painted virtually exclusively bird subjects, usually exotic or game, in park-like landscapes. Jean Baptiste Pierre Le Brun (1748-1813), publisher; French artist. Condition: Good. General age related toning and light staining and/or soiling from handling. Top and right margin with a few light creases, outside the image area. Please study scan carefully.
