Barry Moser (b. 1940) is an artist, illustrator, printer, painter, printmaker, designer, author, essayist, and teacher, as well as the owner, operator, and proprietor of the Pennyroyal Press. During his education he studied with George Cress, Leonard Baskin, Fred Becker, and Jack Coughlin. His works are represented in numerous collections, museums, and libraries around the world including the National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum, The British Museum, The Library of Congress, The London College of Printing, The Vatican Library, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Cambridge to name a few (N. This work pairs seven of his illustrations with rhymes by Paul Smyth, each on one of the seven deadly sins: Wrath, Sloth, Pride, Avarice, Lust, Envy, and Gluttony, with each poem followed by its matching illustration.___DESCRIPTION: Bound in black and red marbled paper with a vivid red leather spine with gilt lettering, red leather tipped corners, fore-edge uncut, title page in red and black, name of each sin in red on the right margins of the page with the poem in black, the following page with the "beast" depicting each; oblong quarto (7.75" tall by 11.25" wide), [40] pp., type Georg Trump's Medieval and John Peter's Castellar on Arches paper, printed at Pennyroyal by Harold McGrath and bound at the workshop of Gray Parrot; limited edition, this number 28 of 100 copies, signed by both the illustrator and the author.___CONDITION: Near fine overall with clean binding, the leather spine is smooth and supple, a strong text block with solid hinges, and the interior is clean and bright.
