[10] + 1090 + [18] pp. Bound in nice contemporary full leather richly gilt on spine. One leaf with tears in the text, one leaf with small tear in upper margin. * First German edition translated by Matthias Kärmer, first published in Dutch 1676. Describes see-battles by Christopher Columbus, Francis Drake, Amerigo Vespucci, Don Juan de Austria and Ferdinand Magellan and the plates shows battle-scenes and 9 portraits. Lambert van den Bos [1610-1698], was born in Amsterdam and wrote more books on politics and historic topics.M.A. de Ruiter (1607-1676), a distinguished naval officer . appointed rear-admiral . specially distinguished himself at Cape Vincent . In 1659 he received a commission to join the king of Denmark in his war with the Swedes (one of the above mentioned engraved plates shows a bird-eye-view of the battle at Nyborg, Funen).
