Histoire Des Revolutions
Paris - Chez Ant. Aug. Renouard 1796 - Four volumes of Vertot's Histoire des Revolutions. Volume I features a frontispiece of Verot. Vertot (1655 - 1735) was a French historian. In 1690, at the suggestion of Fontenelle and the Abb de Saint-Pierre, he wrote his Histoire de la conjuration de Portugal. The book was received with favour, and in 1695 appeared the Histoire des rvolutions de Suede (History of the Swedish revolutions). In 1703 Vertot was made a member of the Academie des inscriptions. Besides contributions to the Mmoires of the Acadmie and other minor works, he wrote the Rvolutions romains (1719) and Histoire des chevaliers hospitaliers de Saint-Jean de Jrusalem (History of the Knights Hospitallers). Condition: In cloth bindings with marbled boards and gilt lettering to spine. Externally a trifle rubbed with some wear to the extremities. Minor water marks. Internallyfirmly bound with bright and clean pages throughout. Overall: VERY GOOD. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
