exempla: documenti di poesia concreta e visuale / documents of concrete and visual poetry
Np, Firenze 1970 - Edition of 200. Thirty-six loose plates 10.8 x 19.9 cm (4.25 x 7.83") in size, silkscreened on heavy card stock in black ink on verso side only. Laid inside a two-piece black card stock slipcase, with title silkscreened in white ink along spine. Text in Italian and English. A remarkable survey of silkscreened loose plates featuring concrete and visual poetry by some of the most notable artists in the field, including Herman de Vries, Adriano Spatola, Haroldo de Campos, Timm Ulrichs, Ferdinand Kriwet, Arrigo Lora Totino, Mirella Bentivoglio, Reinhard Dohl, Eugen Gomringer, Hans Clavin, and E. M. de Melo e Castro among others. In addition to the artists' contributions, Nannucci also provides a declarative essay in Italian and English which outlines the global role and influence of experimental poetry since the 1950's, and how as an art form, it will continue to evolve and influence language and semiotics. A scarce and beautifully assembled artists' book by one of the major Italian contributors of the movement.Colophon states the edition is numbered, but this example is unnumbered. Plates near fine with black offset rubbing along edges on account of the black card stock slipcase, and trace amounts of age toning. Black paper slipcase very good with rubbing and wear along extremities, and a 1.5 cm (0.6") closed tear at bottom right corner.
