Printed by John Wilson and Son, Boston, USA 1860 - Brown cloth covers with extensive embossed ruling and design to both boards, blind ruling and gilt lettering to the spine. Tissue guard frontispiece and portraits. A very good copy with an interesting provenance, with a "Relic of the house of Capt. Daniel Denny, erected by him, on Denny Hill, Leicester Mass., in 1718; and taken down in 1855" (I think a wooden piece of the house in a sealed envelope); also a gift/presentation copy from Jos. A. Denny to John W. Denny dated July, 18, 1874. The Denny Family was one of the first settlers in Leicester and were intimately associate with the development of the town. Fold out "Map of the East Precint or Settlers Part of Leicester, as first laid from 1714 to 1717 - With subsequent divisions compiled from the Original Survey in the Proprietors Records by Jos. A. Denny, 1860". A few light marks to the boards as seen in photos with rubbing/light scuffing to corners and tips of the spine. Internally clean with some age toning to pages, browning to title page, fading to edges of endpapers, light foxing and small edge tear to map, a couple of pages with light marks and one page with loss to fore edge, not affecting the text. With all that mentioned, a firm and solid copy. Christmas Card addressed to Mr. Denny also present. 467pp, 158pp. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
