Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens From the Little White Bird
London: Hodder & Stoughton Limited. Hardcover. Good. No date. 126 p. 49 plates of beautiful illustrations by Arthur Rackham (frontispiece missing), title vignette, headpieces and tailpieces. Green cloth. Spots on covers. Inscription on front free endpaper, including date 1924. J. M. Barrie's achievements include popularizing the name Wendy, inspired by a child's mispronunciation of the word, "friendly." His character Peter Pan has a tragic inspiration, for Barrie's brother died young, never to grow up. The illustrator for this edition, Arthur Rackham, was one of the great book illustrators during the golden age of illustration.
