New York: Dutton,, 1936. The Story of a Tiger. Octavo. Original light green cloth, titles to spine and front board in orange, top edge orange, illustrated endpapers. With the pictorial dust jacket. Frontispiece and 11 full-page black and white illustrations by Dorothy P. Lathrop. Contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper. Top edges slightly darkened, endpapers lightly tanned, mild toning to margins of textblock. An excellent copy in a price-clipped and rubbed jacket with a couple of small chips to spine ends and lower front panel, a few nicks and small closed tears to extremities, and minor wear affecting the 'c' in 'face'. First edition, first printing of this story by Dhan Gopal Mukerji (1890-1936), winner of the 1928 Newbery Medal for his Gay-Neck: the Story of a Pigeon.
