The Act of Union was signed in Ottawa, in the Senate Chambers of the Parliament Buildings, on December 11th, 1948. The added 13-pagepamphlet addressed to A.J. Walsh, Chairman of the Newfoundland Delegation, by Louis St. Laurent, Prime Minister of Canada. The two official Canadian Government photographs of the historic occasion, taken by The National Film Board of Canada, have been made even more memorable by the signature of the Premier of Newfoundland, Joey Smallwood.
