Izd.Malysh 1968 - First and Only Edition.(in Russian) Illustrated by V. Andrievich.RARE. [12]pp. 21.5 x 27.5cm. Original colour illustrated stapled paper wraps; Colour illustrations. Very minor toning to paper stock, incredibly mild nudging to edges, very minor shallow creasing. Light even rubbing to wraps, minor soiling to rear, light rubbing to spine more pronounced to foot, cap of spine. Lyrical poems from the sometimes lightly satirical Akim, this collection of poetry includes the titular poem where Ivan is barely able to lift the heavy drum stick for the big bass drum of the marching red army. A veteran of the Siege of Stalingrad, Akim was encouraged by his good friend Samuil Marshak to take up writing fairly late in his life. In his poem Drug (Friend), published in this little collection, the character goes on a lengthy and adventurous roadtrip by plane, train and car for a friend, one of Akim’s preferred themes.
