Erstklassige Kupferstecher wie J.A. Roux, J.C. Bock, J.B. Hössel, F. Kaiser, J.F. Schrötter schufen die insgesamt 1431 Darstellungen auf den ca. 200 Kupfertafeln. Loders Ziel war es "für alle Fächer der menschlichen Anatomie, die damals besten Abbildungen in ein Werk zu vereinigen, sowie nach eigenen Präparaten diese zu ergänzen, von den 1431 Figuren sind 1122 Copieen und 309 nach Präparaten gefertigte Originalzeichnungen.." Choulant widmet dem Loder'schen Sammelwerk 2 Seiten in seiner Geschichte der anatomischen Abbildungen. Dort finden sich auch Hinweise über die Künstler und die von Loder benutzten Vorlagen. Loder war Professor in Jena, Sachsen-Weimarscher Leibarzt und Geheimrat. Nach der Einnahme durch Napoleon ging er nach Königsberg, später nach St. Petersburg und Moskau.First Edition of this magnificent atlas, really a pictorial encyclopedia of all the best anatomical depictions up to the time of Loder. Many of the anatomical discoveries of the late 18th and early 19th century were collected. Loders object was the compilation in one work of all the best representations then known in the different branches of anatomy, supplemented by representations of original preparations. Some have the cardiovascular system finished in colors. The work was published in six deliveries over several years. Complete copies are very rares.
