Darkness at Noon. Translated from the German by the author's friend and intimate Daphne Hardy.
The Macmillasn Company, New York(1941). First Amercian edition, issued a year after the UK edition. 8vo. 267pp. Blue boards lettered and ruled in silver at spine and with the author's initials silver-stamped to the upper board. Very good indeed in a poor example of the uncommon dust wrapper, split into two two parts, torn, nicked and with several small slivers of loss, some internal repair with offset browning and with some tape residue browning where a repair was once attepted. The first American edition of the author's most famous novel, and the center part of his trilogy bookended by 'The Gladiators' (1939) and 'Arrival and Departure' (1943).. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Poor
