- Antique print, titled: 'Grandmother's Bouquet I' - A large flower and fruit bouquet. It features peaches and grapes. The flowers are tulips, peony roses, lilies and poppy, among others. There are several insects (butterflies, flies and wasps) and a snail. Chromolithograph on faux laid wove paper. Watermark: Arches. Description: From a set of two lithographs of bouquets. These were printed in a limited edition of 2000.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Fernand Mourlot' after 'Joseph Nigg'. Fernand Mourlot (1895-1988) was the director of Mourlot Studios and the founder of Editions Mourlot. Fernand was the sixth of nine children, and studied drawing from 1911. The eldest Mourlot brothers were called to serve in World War I, but rejoined the business of their father after the war. The Mourlot family became a renowned lithographic institution, printing numerous posters for large exhibitions and illustrated books with original graphic art by famous artists of the time. Joseph Nigg (1782-1863) was an Austrian painter, specialising in painting on porcelain. Nigg studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Johann Baptist Drechsler. From 1800 to 1843, Nigg worked as a flower painter in a Viennese porcelain factory. From 1835, this also involved teaching painting classes at the factory. Condition: Very good, given age. Ghosting around the image from previous matting. The colouring has faded a little bit, but is still quite vibrant. All edged reinforced on the rear of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: TPC-P5-02 The overall size is ca. 23.4 x 31.1 inch.
