Original pebbled crimson cloth with gilt spine lettering, black top stain and endpapers. Good+ with sunned cloth at spines and front covers, wear at head and tail, front and rear hinges starting. A few reading smudges and notes in light pencil. Some pages unopened at top. A few small stains on spine of Vol. II. The first appearance of Max Mueller's translation of Kant's masterwork, which would be the standard for nearly a century.
