Roma, Rome 1609 - Rome, unpublished editor, 1609. The book was published in Rome in 1609, on the occasion of the beatification of Ignatius of Loyola. Includes 79 copper engravings (in addition to the cover page and portrait) that illustrate the life of the founder of the Society of Jesus, since its inception in 1491, its conversion, its journey to the Holy Land and so on, until its death in 1556. Surely the book was in preparation for some time and was part of the Jesuit strategy to make S. Ignazio's figure more important to the public. 8th, 22 cm Notes on possession, the 79 engravings performed by Galle. Extra plates have been added the last 10 pages. First few pages are loose.
